Community SponsorshipsAmerican Cancer Society800-252-5470 http://www.cancer.org Bozeman Deaconess sponsors the Relay for Life and Daffodil Day program in support of cancer research. Relay For Life represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated. Daffodils are the first flower of spring. The flower of hope. One of the brightest events of the year is Daffodil Days, when bright daffodils are delivered to businesses, churches, schools and homes in March. Gallatin County Safe Kids Safe Communities317 E. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation888-533-WALK http://www.jdrf.org Founded by parents of children with type 1 juvenile diabetes, JDRF focuses on a single goal—accelerating research progress to cure diabetes and its complications. Its research management process is unique—it is organized as a diabetes cure enterprise. JDRF takes informed risks, continuously monitors the global diabetes research landscape, and makes research investments strategically, to ensure that resources are effectively directed to research with the greatest impact leading to a cure as soon as possible. This unwavering dedication has led JDRF to award more money for diabetes research than any other charitable organization—more than $900 million since our founding in 1970, including over $98 million in FY 2005 alone. More than 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education. National Multiple Sclerosis Society800-FIGHT-MS http://www.nationalmssociety.org Bozeman Deaconess sponsors the Walk to Cure MS. For too long, 400,000 Americans and their families have suffered the devastating effects of MS. But with 200,000 participants raising nearly $50 million at the 2005 MS Walk, we collectively brought the world one giant step closer to a cure. More than just a fundraising event, though, the MS Walk is a celebration for an entire community. The donations that pour in fund countless programs and services and research, but the event itself creates a hope-filled and fun atmosphere for everyone affected by MS while generating a greater awareness of multiple sclerosis in the public at large. Families are drawn closer together, co-workers are united for a greater good, and people gain a better understanding of what MS is and how close we are coming to eradicating it.
